Prepare for Your Installation

Overview

A little preparation can help your installation go smoothly and reduce delays.

Before your appointment, make sure you understand any access requirements and decide where you’d like your equipment installed.

Choose your equipment location

Consider where you’ll get the best Wi-Fi coverage throughout your home.

Choose a location that is:

  • Central within your property
  • Close to a power socket
  • Easily accessible
  • Away from large metal objects and electronic interference

Check access requirements

Ensure the engineer can access all areas required for the installation.

This may include:

  • Utility cupboards
  • Communal areas
  • External walls
  • Existing broadband equipment

Landlord permission

If you rent your property, you may need permission from your landlord before installation work can take place.

Check your tenancy agreement if you’re unsure.

Building permissions and wayleaves

Some properties require additional permissions before installation can proceed.

This is more common in:

  • Apartment buildings
  • New-build developments
  • Managed properties

We’ll contact you if any action is needed.

Pre-installation surveys

In some cases, an engineer may need to visit your property before installation to assess requirements.

If a survey is needed, we’ll arrange this with you.
